One Year Later

So, one year ago yesterday Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. And one year ago today the levees broke, flooding 80% of New Orleans. This is a picture of our apartment (green, on the right). How strange it remains to me that we are not at all where we thought we'd be...but who is, really? The past year has been full of change, full of newness, full of processing and analyzing. Where do we go? What do we do? When do we get to start our lives again? And, heaven forbid, Why did this happen? Some days the answers to these questions seem closer than others.

I know for sure that God is directing our paths and I know for certain that He sent all of our amazing friends and family to take care of us-- without whom we would not be here today. So, thank you for all you've done and all you do. Thank you for trying to understand as we've walked this road. We're looking forward, not back.
